Burnt Orange Mid Century Dresser

Hi Friends!

How are you? I hope you’re having a great week! We’ve been so busy here! Thankfully, we had our best week yet last week! So excited to have moments like these to celebrate! With that said, we want to thank you all so very much for the business you send our way and the encouraging words you take time to share with us. I can’t begin to explain how much that means!

One of the projects we finished up last week was this beautiful mid century dresser made by Dixie furniture. It’s been giving a whole new look with burnt orange paint on the box and refinished drawer fronts. It has dovetail drawers and has been sprayed with a protective clear coat, too. I don’t have the name of the orange because we did a custom mix to get this color. If you’d like to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.

Here’s the before picture:

We also added hairpin legs to get this beauty off the floor! I love the look of this piece! Here are the after’s for you:

What a transformation!! Am I right?? This beauty is up on our For Sale page, but my gut says it won’t last long so snatch it up if you love it friends. The crates are included in the sale. If this isn’t quite what you’re looking for, we have more. Check out some of the many new pieces on our For Sale page now:

Repurposed Antique Buffet Into Kitchen Island – Tuesday’s Treasures

Hi Friends,

How are you? I’ve been fighting off a nasty summer cold that’s kicking my butt! I’m hoping to turn the corner and start feeling better this week! Loving all the summer warmth and late nights with friends though. This is what I want all year long to be like – minus the cold of course. :)

I can’t wait to show this transformation to you! I’ve been wanting to do one of these pieces for our store. We took this beautiful antique buffet:

We wanted to transform it into a kitchen island! So, John ripped the top off and built a custom oak top that was a hard wood and could handle the abuse of kitchen use. Most buffets have just thin backer board on the back so we added shiplap on the back for visual interest and added supports off the back to hold the extended oak top. That created seating for the kitchen, too!

Then to take it to the next level of adorable – we added new hardware, painted it with black enamel, abd msprayed it with a protective clear coat. If you’d like to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.

Kitchen Cabinets Painted Pale Oak and Gentleman’s Gray

Hi Friends!

How’s your week going? I hope all is well and you survived the blistering heat last week. We took some time off and went camping for a bit in our 1974 Lark pop-up. We had a wonderful time in Schroon Lake!

This week, I wanted to share a kitchen makeover from back in April that I was recently able to photograph! This one was fun because they decided to add a pop of color with the island. Here’s the kitchen before:

We ended up painting the cabinets with Benjamin Moore’s Pale Oak and sprayed them with a protective clear coat. We painted the island Benjamin Moore’s Gentleman’s Gray. I love the contrast! Thank you for being so fun to work with Kevin and Jill!

Ready for the afters?

I even got to snuggle the cutest little kitten while I was there, too!

Mint Car Dresser (for sale)

Hi Friends!

How’s your week going? Are you enjoying this heat wave! I love the heat and I’ve been camping this weekend so there really is no reprieve but I say soak it up! New York is cold for far too long so I’ll take the Florida-like weather.

I wanted to show you a fun makeover that we just finished!

We took this adorable little dresser:

It’s cute, right? We had the great race (a huge car show) in Troy last weekend so I wanted to do a fun car piece for the weekend. We painted it with BM’s Pistachio and added a black stripe on top. We also added chevy hardware for fun! If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.

Here’s the after’s for you!

This piece and so many others are on sale for a Fourth of July week long sale at FunCycled. We’re closed on the 4th, but feel free to stop by any time this week to snatch up the sales.

What a transformation!! Am I right?? This beauty is up on our For Sale page, but my gut says it won’t last long so snatch it up if you love it friends. The crates are included in the sale. Making an Ugly Dresser Modern (for sale)

Hi Friends!

How’s your week going? We had a rocky start to summer vacation. The kids and I didn’t blend well at the beginning of school vacation. I’m busier than ever and they are wanting to be busy doing fun things, more than I can pull off every day. So it was a week of learning, praying, readjusting. Our new plan is for me to work in the morning, but make up for it with fun in the afternoon. They have chores, play time, reading time, music time while I work and then we can all do something fun together after lunch. I started this new plan on Tuesday and by Thursday it was working great! I’m so thankful for that! I’m sure there will still be hard days, but I’m happy to have a plan. The only other thing I don’t have down… getting back to people’s phone calls. I can email and catch up that way every day but calls… those seem impossible with kids with me every second. If you have any good tips for that, please let me know in the comments below.

I can’t wait to share this week’s furniture makeover. When I saw this dresser, I loved how ugly it was because I knew how pretty I could make it. It had the right lines and the high end quality I wanted. Here’s the before:

We painted the box Simply White by Benjamin More, added hardware (which it so badly needed), attached chrome legs, and made the herringbone pattern on the doors the focal point by staining it with a gray stain; which I LOVE! If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.

Ready for the after?

Kitchen Makeover using Ballet White by Benjamin Moore

Hi Friends!

How are you? I hope you are enjoying this warm weather and the fact that summer vacation is coming up quickly. As many of you do, I now start juggling full time mom and full time business owner. It can seem overwhelming at best on days. Mostly because I love being with the kids and I love what I do so doing both well feels almost impossible for the next three months. My goal is to give it my best and have lots of grace toward the kids and myself. I can’t wait to make memories with them and make homes beautiful one client at a time.

For this week’s featured makeover, I wanted to share a kitchen cabinet painting job that we finished back in April. This kitchen took me some time to figure out the right colors and finishes for. There were a couple of things to think through when picking the color. Originally our clients wanted beige because the counter has beige and the tile is cream. But with the walls being beige, I felt like it would be to much. So, I thought it over and did some research and encouraged them to paint the walls a dark gray and then go with a light cream to brighten everything up.

Here’s the kitchen before:

We ended up painting the cabinet with Benjamin Moore’s Ballet White OC-9 and sprayed them with a protective clear coat. We painted the island Benjamin Moore’s Stormy Monday and glazed the island to give it more visual interest. They took the color Stormy Monday and darkened it to the next shade darker for the walls. I absolutely love the contrast.

We also changed out the hardware which made a big difference in this space.

Orange Mid Century Credenza (for sale) – Tuesday’s Treasures

Hi Friends,

How are you? I hope you’re having a great week! I was out of town this weekend, celebrating our 15 year anniversary while also checking out a new interior design job I’m working on in Cape Cod. John had never been to Cape Cod and we both loved every minute of it.

Starting with the beach of course…

We also checked out the Heritage Museum and Gardens. If you’re in Cape Cod, this is a really pretty stop if you like gardening. So many beautiful trees and flowers. The museum also had really neat old cars and old race cars.

The next day we went to Nantucket Island for the day. A first for both of us and WOW, WOW, WOW! It was so stunning and quaint. Straight out of the movies! I didn’t take that many pictures because we brought our bikes and spent a lot of the day biking around the island. Here are a few though:

Last, but definitely not least! We went on a whale watch! This was one of John’s bucket list items and he was thrilled! We were able to see two types of whales and they came pretty close to the boat!

I highly recommend a trip to Cape Cod if you haven’t already gone there. So, so beautiful. It also makes me want to do some paintings of the water or even a ocean dresser… how beautiful would that be?

For this week’s makeover, I wanted to show you another mid century piece that we recently added to the store. Here it is before:

I loved how this piece had a door with storage behind it and the drawers. That makes it useful in so many spaces. It could be a dresser, entertainment center or even a buffet.

We painted the box and door electric orange by Benjamin Moore, but refinished the drawers in a darker, warmer brown. I loved the contrast and thought the doors were so beautiful! If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post. After we painted it, we lightly distressed it, and sprayed a protective clear coat over the top.

Gray French Provincial Dresser

Hi Friends,

How are you? I hope you’re all enjoying the warmer weather and all the beautiful flowers that are blooming! Our yard is like a canvas that suddenly exploded with color and beauty! Watching everything come to life always makes me so in awe of our creator. Such detail, such beauty. I just can’t believe it’s by a cosmic accident and I am so thankful of the gift of pretty things all around us and the cycle of new life. Here are some of our flowers from our gardens:

Speaking of beautiful…. I bought this french provincial dresser a month or so ago and I basically fell in love with it. The lines, the fancy, and that mirror. You stop that, pretty mirror!

I was to torn about what color I should paint it! I went back and forth between so many colors and then finally decided to let our Facebook and Instagram fans choose the color for it! What color did they pick??

Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore

Good choice!! It’s subtle and pretty and soft.

We kept the original hardware and sprayed it with a protective clear coat. If you’d like to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.

Teal Dresser Makeover – Tuesday’s Treasures

Hi Friends!

How was your week? I was able to enjoy some time in NYC over the weekend and look at some of the pretty things I ran into while I was there!

For this week’s makeover, I wanted to show you a dresser that needed some love. It was that typical dark wood with not my favorite hardware!

We painted it using Valspar’s color Vintage Teal. We also added new hardware, glazed it and sprayed it with a protective clear coat. If you’d like to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.

Oak Kitchen Cabinets Painted Chelsea Gray

Hi Friends!

How are you? I hope you’re all having a great week and are excited about the upcoming holiday weekend! We’ve been busy getting the flower gardens up to par and the lawn mowed – which feels like every other day. I love all the green and the added touch of color from my mother’s day gift of hanging flower baskets on my porch. It makes me feel like summer is here already…

This week’s transformation is of a pretty common style kitchen in Clifton Park with oak cabinets. The cabinets actually needed some repair with some damage and warping of the boxes but Lynne and her husband really wanted to reuse instead of buying new cabinets. I loved that about this project! Here’s the kitchen pictures before:

We decided to go with a medium gray on the cabinets and lighten up the walls with a lighter gray. Then they added new backsplash which I think helped this whole project pop.

We painted the kitchen cabinets with Benjamin Moore’s Advanced paint in Chelsea Gray. We also sprayed it with a water based clear coat for extra protection and durability.
