How was your week? I hope all is well and you enjoyed the warm, upstate New York fall weather! I loved every minute!
This week’s transformation adds some of my favorite fabric to an adorable china cabinet. Here it is before:
We went went with Benjamin Moore’s Stardust, lightly distressed it and then added adorable fabric to the back. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.

How’s your week going? We had a great weekend – relaxing a bit and celebrating my birthday! We have been going full throttle so it was really nice to unplug this weekend and enjoy some family time! We went to The Hildene, the home of Abraham Lincoln’s son, and enjoyed the beautiful fall foliage blanketing the Vermont mountains. Here are just a few pictures from that!
For this week’s furniture makeover, I wanted to show you a buffet makeover that I love. Mostly because it’s a great color, but also because of the copper hardware. I’ve really been loving copper lately and think it’s a trend that will stick around for a while! Here it is before: Marissa wanted a neutral that would go with gray or brown so we went went with Benjamin Moore’s Stardust, lightly distressed it, and glazed it with Valspar’s Antiquing glaze. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.

How was your week? We had a wonderful, fun fall weekend where we unplugged for a much needed family day. Here’s some of the pictures from Indian Ladder farm which I’ve never been to before and we absolutely loved it! Continue reading Drippy Map Buffet
How was your week? I know some of you are ready for the fall weather in upstate NY and autumn is my favorite season, but I have really enjoyed all of the warmth and sunshine over the last two weeks. I could live like this all year round. Not to mention, it makes work go much smoother! Everything dries faster and the paint doesn’t drip like in the cool, wet weather. We even had the chance to go apple picking over the weekend and loved every minute!
For this week’s makeover, I thought I’d share another design job! Here’s the room before:
Nadine wanted a fresh, new look while keeping the furniture and headboard in her room. I loved the lines of her furniture and she was ok with painting them so we redid those and you can read about how we did that on the Simply White Dresser Makeover post. Just so you have a quick look at how my interior design works, after the initial consult, I came up with a design board with products for her to order and colors that I would like to see in the space. Here’s a look at her design board:
We tweaked the design a bit, but the after pictures will show all of the elements that we brought into the space. Unfortunately, I’m not sharing where you can get all of the items because that’s why you should hire me to do the foot work for you. ;)

How are you? We’ve been having a good week over here. Getting lots of work done while enjoying the unexpected return of summer, after a few fall like weeks.
My friend Alison took me to see the Beekman 1802 Boys at Proctor’s over the weekend. If you don’t know much about them, they are from Sharon Springs, NY. They bought an old farm and have a great story of why they started their own business and how they landed a show on TV about the farm and ended winning the Amazing Race as well. They were so genuine and nice!
This week’s furniture makeover is a simple but pretty makeover that was done as a custom order. Here’s the dresser before:
The hardware had to go and we wanted this piece to have a feminine design. We painted it with Benjamin Moore’s color Venetian Rose, distressed it, and finished with a satin protective clear coat. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.
Ready for the after?
Such an amazing transformation, right?
Also, we just finished up our fall window displays and to celebrate, we’re holding and an early fall sale! 10-30% off repurposed furniture in our store!

How are you? We’ve had a wonderful weekend celebrating my little Sweetie’s birthday! We were able to give her the gift of her dreams this year… a puppy! So let me introduce you to the cutest girl on the planet accompanied by the sweetest dog on the plant… Sadee!
She’s half Pomeranian and half Chihuahua and as cute as they come! Such a good baby who’s already crate trained and almost house broken. She gets along with our lab like they’ve known each other forever, too! Sadee is our first small dog, so if you have any small dog advice, please share it below.
For this week’s furniture makeover, we started with a waterfall buffet. I’m not a huge fan of waterfall style furniture. I’m not sure why, but I’m never drawn to it. Here it is before:
I decided to go with a stark white on the box of this piece because I wanted to detract from the waterfall top and help to focus on the graining in the woodwork of the doors. The veneer has such a beautiful pattern!
We painted the outside Simply White by Benjamin Moore and stained the drawers with a weathered gray stain. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.
Once Katie found out I painted this piece similar to her Secretary Desk Project, she bought it before we even brought it to the store! Thanks so much for the business, Katie! Are you ready for the afters?

How are you? School starts tomorrow for us and my kiddos can’t wait. We have all the school supplies, outfits, and excitement you could ask for. ;) Excitement, did someone say excitement? Well, let me show you a design I’ve been really excited about! I’ve been working with Melissa for a while. A little over a year ago, I helped redesign her townhouse. She put it on the market and it sold in a day! Awesome! Then she said she wanted me to design her new house. I was honored and excited to hear that as I absolutely love working with her so it was such a treat.
The room isn’t completely done but stay tuned on Facebook or Instagram because I’ll show the after pictures as soon as it’s done. I created the design board above for the room. It doesn’t show the exact furniture I would use but the closest I could find to what I’d wantef to use. I bought this set and thought it would be a perfect fit for the space:
The table didn’t have any of the original chairs, but I found a set of five and another miss matched chair to make the set complete. I really wanted to make the set cohesive but also unique so we painted the buffet and matching china cabinet Gentlemen’s Teal by Benjamin Moore, glazed it to deepen the color, and added a protective clear coat. The table and the inside of the china cabinet are painted Silver Fox by Benjamin Moore. We also reupholstered the seats with a fabric that had dark gray and cream. The walls in this design are creamy white with a shiplap accent wall. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.
Are you ready for the after?

How are you? Many of you have started school already but we are now in crunch time trying to get everything ready for school. My amazing friend, Jo Ann, has helped me out more than I can even explain by taking our kiddos one day a week this summer so I could work (this helps me so much!) and she came to save the day by school clothes shopping for me! A big thank you to her for always looking for ways to make my life easier. We are ready for school and to be honest, I’m ready to get back to a normal work schedule.
The last two weeks of summer always feel like the worst because I’m at the point of barely keeping up and not getting back to people in the time that I normally would and that I always want to. I also wanted to say thank you to all of you who have been patient and gracious with me. So many customers have been so kind and understanding through kidney stones and crazy summer schedules. I’m crazy thankful for all of you and for being able to do what we love every day!!
This week’s furniture project is one of those projects that I kept hanging around in our storage unit forever! John wanted me to throw it away a looonggg time ago, but I knew it could be something beautiful one day. He graciously kept lugging it different places for me until I finally had a design plan for it.
Here it is before:
A buffet with no legs, one missing door, peeling veneer… hmmm… what to do with this? I knew right away that I wanted to remove the other door and use baskets on either side. I thought it would be nice to add small legs to make this a lower buffet or an entertainment center.
I really wanted to make this piece pop with color so we painted it Divine Red by Benjamin Moore, glazed it to deepen the color, and added a protective clear coat. It also has dovetail drawers! If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.
We added furniture legs from Lowes. Then I found dog knobs and loved that they matched the baskets. I was a little nervous about going with dog knobs, but decided to go for it! Why not? People can choose to change out the knobs if they don’t like it, right??
Well guess what, thanks to Katie and Dan, this piece sold before we could even get it into the store. They were looking for a buffet when they stopped by our store and asked if we had anything coming in soon. Once we showed them this buffet, they were sold…. Guess what sold them on it? The DOG knobs!!

For this week’s furniture makeover we took a trunk like many you’ve probably seen before. It looked like it should be in the garage or basement and we turned it into something that could be a focal point of the living room or at the end of a bed. Really beautiful!
Here it is before:
It had been Lisa’s family so she didn’t want to get rid of it, but definitely didn’t want it to look like this any longer. We painted all of it – even over the hardware and handles and then lightly distressed it with an orbital sander. We painted it Simply White by Benjamin Moore. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post. We also added wheels which is what I think sent this makeover into a whole new level of awesomeness! What do you think?
Such an amazing transformation, right?
This trunk was a custom order so it’s not available to purchase, but please check out other new furniture for sale on our website here or let us know if you could use some help with decorating. How was your week? I hope you’ve been enjoying the sun and last few weeks before school starts again? I have had company on and off for the last few weeks and it’s been so much fun! I’ve also been dealing with a kidney stone since the fourth of July. Just for the record, that’s no fun! Since I spent the majority of today in urgent care, I’m going to keep this short and sweet but also show you a transformation that was anything but short and sweet. Here’s the dresser before:
There was more that I didn’t like about this dresser than I did like. It looked like the head of a robot, not a dresser. Lol! So, we took off the smile on the bottom drawers and filled the holes for the eyes… I mean knobs! :) Then we removed the base that makes it look like it’s a rocket about to shoot into outer space. We added furniture feet onto it and all new hardware. We painted it Benjamin Moore’s color Silver Fox on the outside and and painted the drawers Simply White. I wanted this piece to have a clean, crisp feel so I didn’t do any distressing or glazing. Just a protective clear coat over the top! If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post.
Such an amazing transformation, right? This piece is currently available to purchase! You can check it out on our Shop Page.
