Living Room Design for 1795 Home

Hi Friends!

How are you? I hope you all enjoyed Thanksgiving with family or friends! We debated on whether we should decorate for Christmas this year since we close on the new house next week. A good friend spoke truth into my life. Encouraging me to give up some plans and to simplify life so we would still have time to enjoy Christmas as a family. There will always be something to renovate, work to be done, more people wanting help, but one thing that won’t come back is a Christmas with my kids still enjoying the wonder of it all. I’m so thankful for her wisdom and her challenging me to have enough courage to say no to some things that I love so I could say yes to those I love most.

This week, I wanted to share some after pictures of an interior design job that has been slowly happening since the spring. This house had so much character and just needed a little sprucing up with paint colors, rugs, couch covers, furniture placement and decor items. We had a wonderful time working together and I absolutely love how everything came out. Sorry I don’t have any after pictures for you!

Metropolitan Gray Hutch Makeover

Hi Friends!

Do you like looking ahead at the color trends for the upcoming year as much as I do?? No? Hmm… we can still be friends! ;) Well, I wanted to introduce you to Benjamin Moor’e color of the year for 2019. It’s Metropolitan AF-690 and its a soft, cool gray that is just so beautiful.

Here’s the hutch before we painted it:

We painted it using Benjamin Moore’s Metropolitan AF-690. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post. After we painted it, we lightly glazed it, and sprayed a protective clear coat over the top. We also added all new hardware that really popped with gold accents.

Win this table just in time for Thanksgiving!!

Also, if you haven’t already seen, we’re also giving away one of our custom built tables. If you haven’t entreated for your chance to win, head over to our Facebook page here.

For this week’s makeover, I wanted to show you a living room design job that we’ve been working on for our friends Marty and Elena.

Here’s the living room before:

We did some big updates in this space while the design consult only took 1.5 hours. That’s a small investment of time and money to help select colors and finishes that would work in the space for years to come.

Walls: Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore

New couch, rug, and curtains online!

Then they asked us to custom build an entertainment center! John built from scratch this 9′ long barn door entertainment center. He also built the end stands and shelving for the wall. The arches, ladder, and other home decor came from our store in Troy (272 River Street). We were still waiting on the TV, lamps and greenery but I couldn’t wait to show you the after pictures of this space:

Kitchen Cabinet Painting in Mechanicville, Ny

Hi Friends!

How are you? I hope you are having a great week! We have some really exciting news coming soon so stay tuned to our blog and social media sites. Right now, I’m in the season of busy and I’m sure so many of you can relate to that. I wanted to encourage you all in this season of busy, whether that’s busy because of school, or the holidays, or in ministry, or in work, or whatever else; take the minutes, the hours of the day that aren’t busy and be so smart about them. Stop to take time to asses what you need most in this season or day. Do you need rest? Do you need family time? Do you need to take your kids and encourage them? Do you need a date night with your hubby? Well, schedule in time for that! I know that sounds counterproductive to a busy schedule, but it’s the only way to live a healthy life of balance. Our schedule reflects our priorities in life. Our schedule teaches our children (without words) what’s our priority is in life. Sometimes we have to say no to a good thing to be able to say yes to the best thing. In this season of insanity, I’m learning to schedule the priorities first and then fit the rest in. Time to start my day reading the Bible and prayer. Time with my husband either at home after the kids are in bed or on a date night. Family night once a week. Time to be faithful in church – both to be encouraged and to serve – is a priority. Time to work and do well with it. Time to be a good friend to some (probably not all I want to). Life is just too short to let things that aren’t really that important fill our days. Things like extracurricular activities or social media or TV can zap our time and leave us feeling empty and too busy and like a failure. I fail at this often friends, but I’m in this busy season and am really loving the word margin. Scheduling less. Leaving room to have time for spur of the moment lunches or extra work time that may come up or time to lay in bed with my son to talk to him about what’s on his mind instead of rushing downstairs to work. Let’s work harder at living with more margin, more calm, and purposeful planning in our days friends.

For this week’s makeover, I wanted to share a beautiful kitchen makeover in Mechanicville. Here’s the kitchen before:

We painted cabinets Simply White and the cabinets Chelsea Gray by Benjamin Moore. We also installed rough cut shiplap on the back of the island. We painted the shiplap Chelsea Gray first and Simply White second so both colors in the kitchen blend well together and it adds visual interest in the room. Everything else in this kitchen stayed the same so you can really see how JUST paint truly changed this space.

Here are the afters for you!

Kitchen Cabinet Painting in Saratoga, Ny

Hi Friends!

How was your weekend? We did some pumpkin picking and working on projects! It felt great to get some things done and relax a bit!

For this weeks makeover, I want to share a recent kitchen that we redid in Wilton, Ny. Here’s a picture of the kitchen before:

Yvonne and Charlie have had us help with interior design, repurpose furniture and they’ve been waiting for a bit to redo the kitchen. I was really excited that they decided to go ahead with it as it really brightened up the space.

We painted cabinets Simply White by Benjamin Moore. We also installed all new backsplash for this project. I think adding that backsplash made such a huge impact in the space.

Here are the afters for you!

Teal Mirrored Dresser For Sale – Tuesday’s Treasures

Hi Friends!

How was your long weekend? We had a great time over the weekend with a quick trip to Watkin’s Glen and an overnight stay in Cayuga Lake for my birthday!

It felt so good to be outside and enjoying all of the beautiful creation. I always say, God is the best artist. Enjoying the rolling hills full of orange and green trees, listening to the waterfalls, and waking up on a quiet, fog filled lake is refreshing to my soul.

Now I’m back with some renewed energy and excited to get to work! Here’s this week’s dresser before we gave it a makeover:

I loved all the curves on the front. For this piece, we went with Benjamin Moore’s color Azure Water. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post. After we painted it, we lightly distressed it, and sprayed a protective clear coat over the top. All new hardware also created such a different look!

Pine Hutch Painted Black – Tuesday’s Treasures

Hi Friends!

How are you? I hope your week has been going well! We’ve been enjoying the fall festivities with apple picking! I’m not much of a baker but I can make a mean apple crisp!

We’ve already had an apple crisp girls night while watching Anne of Green Gables… the original of course. We made hot chocolate from scratch using real chocolate bars. Oh my word… so amazingly delicious!

Ok, I’m getting hungry… best to stop talking about all this yummy goodness. ;)

Speaking of yummy goodness, I think you’re going to like this makeover. We took a pretty outdate pine hutch and gave it a delicious makeover.

Here it is before:

For this piece, we went with Benjamin Moore’s color Black. If you want to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post. After we painted it, we lightly distressed it, and sprayed a protective clear coat over the top. All new hardware also created such a different look!

Although this was a custom piece, no worries, we have other new pieces available for you to buy on our for sale page right now. Here are just a few:

Painting Laminate Kitchen Cabinets in Delmar, Ny

Hi Friends!

How’s your week going? I’ve been busy with so many interior design projects and loving every minute. From an adorable house in Troy, a condo in Schenectady, to a brand new lake house in Lake Luzerne, I’ve been running here and there!

I also had a chance to go photograph a kitchen painting project that we did a few months ago in Delmar, Ny. Ellen didn’t want to break the bank with her kitchen makeover but wanted to update the old laminate cabinets, flooring and tile. We decided to paint the laminate cabinets (yes, with the right prep work and tools you can paint laminate cabinet)! We also decided to take the old backsplash and paint it instead of buying new and I’m so glad we did! It made such a difference.

Here’s the kitchen before:

We painted the island Kendall Charcoal HC-166 and the main cabinets Simply White by Benjamin Moore. We also painted the backsplash Kendall Charcoal. I think adding that dark gray contrast made such a huge impact in the space. We also painted the walls Stonington Gray by Benjamin Moore. She hired a general contractor to install the vinyl flooring and they were able to lay it right over the tiling so that saved a lot of money, too! The lighting above the island was another adorable design element and the hardware made it look like a brand new kitchen!

Here are the afters for you!
