Four Kitchen Designs: Farmhouse, Coastal, MCM, and Industrial

Hi, friends!

Today, I am excited to share about four unique kitchen styles – all of which have been inspirational to me over the years! I want to break down some of the distinctive design elements for each style that help you understand how to get this look in your own kitchen. NOTE, this is not meant to be a comprehensive list for each style. It is a quick overview and guide to each of them. Take a look, and don’t forget to leave a comment about which style most reflects you!

Farmhouse Kitchens

Distinctive Elements: apron sinks, open shelving, exposed brick & wood beams, mix of wood and metal, cup drawer pulls & mixed hardware, “aged metals” matte black or oil rubbed bronze, Shaker style cabinets, white subway tile, and butcher block counters

Coastal Kitchens

Distinctive Elements: light airy colors, baskets & shells, natural elements & light, natural fibers, beachy decor & nautical elements, woven elements like rattan and jute, clean lines, linen fabric, matte paint finishes, and white walls

Industrial Kitchens

Distinctive Elements: stainless steel, open shelving, exposed brick or piping, concrete, open storage, utilitarian layout, colors are limited to very neutral palette (grays, whites, browns, blacks), simple pendant lighting

Mid Century Modern Kitchens

Distinctive Elements– clean lines, use of warm tones ranging from earthy to bold, a lot of wood elements, tile in stacked pattern, flat paneled cabinets, geometric patterns,
