Mid Century Dresser Set Makeover – Tuesday’s Treasures

Hi Friends!!

Be prepared for picture overload… It’s summer time so I’m with my little ones so much more and try to make fun memories throughout the summer. I can’t help but share all of the cuteness with you. You don’t mind, right?

Last week, we celebrated Father’s Day a day late with John choosing to go to Six Flags for the day. We had worked for 14 days straight and even worked until noon that day before heading off for a much needed day of laughter at the park. It was lots of fun! I loved spending time with the kiddos. Here they are; little balls of energy running out of the park at the end of the day.

My friend Jo Ann asked us to go on a picnic one day this past week and we tried out Schodack Island State Park. If you’re local, you should try it out. It’s got a great playground and picnic tables right along the water. We skipped rocks, had a picnic lunch and even went on an easy hike.

I also had the privilege of being a part of Art4Love which was a paint night at Creative Corks in Malta. The staff was so welcoming and caring. We auctioned off FunCycled home decor along with many other business donations; all to raise money for Love146.  Here we are painting…  IMG_2473-1 IMG_2478 IMG_2475-1

What a great night!

I told you it would be a lot of pictures! :) I also wanted to share with you an eye catching mid century makeover that we did a couple of weeks ago. This set sold in less than 24 hours. Remember, when you love a unique piece of furniture or art, buy it before someone else does. Sometimes they are snatched up quickly.

Here’s the set before:

If you’d like to see how we paint furniture, check out our How to Paint Furniture post. We painted this set with Simply White by Benjamin Moore, then we stained some of the drawers and watered down paint to use on the other drawers to show some of the wood grain. All of the  hardware is original to the set. We just cleaned it up a bit.

Are you ready for the after? Here you go:

  1. Wow just wow! You unveiled a gem underneath that piece. Excellent job. Your choice of colors really makes it shine.

  2. Hi, There!
I was so excited to see this mid century set makeover!! I have a chest and dresser in that style and this exact makeover is what I need to coordinate with my rattan wrought iron bed and night stands! Did you strip the furniture first? Also what brand and names of color stains did you use? I’m so excited!

  3. This is the most impressive makeover I’ve seen yet! I’m about to makeover my bedroom & bathroom in a completely different style, but if I could start with what you’ve done…..Oh really I know you must be so proud of how they turned out! A BIG ? To you!

  4. Wow! What an impressive makeover! I have this exact same set (only the hardware is slightly different) passed down from my parents…it was their first bedroom set. I absolutely love what you’ve done here. Since my pieces have been passed around the family, I’m missing a few hardware pieces and haven’t been able to find replacements. Do you have any suggestions on where I can locate this type of hardware?
    Thanks so much!
    Linda
