Hi Friends!

Can you believe it’s already the week of Christmas? It is with much embarrassment that I’m still not done shopping, still haven’t wrapped a thing and haven’t even had a chance to sit down and write a list of what I still need to buy for some people. Partly it’s because we’ve been really busy at the store and with custom orders and I have to say thank you so much to all of you who chose to buy our furniture, home decor and gift cards for others for Christmas this year. We genuinely want to say thank you for making this dream of ours possible. I also haven’t had a chance because I’m trying to enjoy the time with people and soak in the wonderful gift that God sent to us and the whole reason we are celebrating. Celebrating Christ’s birth. How Many Kings would step down from their throne, to romance a world that is torn all apart? Our king… and we are humbled by this gift.

How many of you follow the color trends predicted for the upcoming year? I didn’t until about 5 years ago. I like to see how it shows up in different design elements throughout the year. Well, Pantone has announced the color of the year for 2015 to be Marsala.  Before I even knew that, I had designed this hutch for our store. It sold already, but I had to share the before and after and show you how the color of the year looks on a piece of furniture. As per the norm, I wanted to change out the hardware and remove the spindles on top. I just don’t like that look. If you’d like to see how we paint furniture, check out our How To Paint Furniture post.  I used paint I already had for the hutch, but I would recommend using Valspar’s Claret as a pretty close match.

I also glazed this using Valspar’s Antiquing glaze.
