Hi Friends!
One little thing you may not know about me is that I’m a pianist. I’ve been playing the piano since I was 8 years old. I started playing in nursing homes when I was 12, and have been on the worship bands in every church I’ve attended (until the most recent church). I LOVE playing the piano… so when I say I’ve been wanting to paint a paint for YEARS, I’m not exaggerating. Basically day one of FunCycled, I couldn’t wait for the day when we would paint a working piano. We’ve converted pianos into desks and headboards, but never got to keep one as a functioning piano until Michele recently reached out to us to paint her’s.
Here’s the piano before:
Painting a piano is much like painting furniture but the main thing you have to keep in mind is that you don’t want any paint to get onto the keys or in the inside. It’s time consuming, but we taped off everything really well and then sprayed the paint with our air sprayer.
We painted this piano a Sherman William’s color, Tricorn Black, lightly distressed it, and sprayed it with a protective clear coat. That way Michele’s family can enjoy it for years to come.
We also built a new music sheet holder so it felt more up to date.
