Navy Number Dresser on Tuesday’s Treasures

Hi Everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. We had a busy Saturday reorganizing the barn and trying to make room for over 30 new furniture pieces. We’ve added most of them to our Upcoming Projects Page so please go check them out and let me know if you’d like one re-envisioned for your home. :)

Sunday, I googled the local newspaper’s, Times Union, calendar of events and the first thing that came up was a family fun day in Saratoga.  So, after church we decided to head up for a much needed family day of relaxation. We got to the address and there was nothing going on. We stopped to ask a couple people and everyone looked at us like we had three heads. So, I RE-read the article and it was for July of 2012!! What in the world!! lol. So we took that lemon and made some lemonade or something like that… We grabbed lunch at a local restaurant and went to Congress Park.
Sweetie tried to catch the ducks…

And our little guy wasn’t feeling too well so he watched the ducks from afar…

Then to Ben and Jerry’s for some ice cream! It was a fun family day after all. :)

Let’s talk furniture, shall we? One of our customers emailed me to see if I wanted to buy this dresser from her. The nice thing, I already had someone who wanted a dresser just like it. Yes please!

It was in great shape and made of solid wood. A perfect canvas for this idea! Carly wanted an entertainment center for her house in navy blue with numbers on it. I primed and painted this using Benjamin Moore’s Old Navy. My mom helped me by cutting the numbers out with her Cricut cutter. I traced them with a pencil and colored in the lines with a standard cream colored paint. It still looked a little too perfect for my style so I distressed it and glazed it a bit to give it more of a warn look and to also make the numbers not pop out as much on the navy.

Here’s the after picture!

Sorry the picture isn’t amazing. It was just too heavy to move AGAIN to take a picture of it. :) Oh, and if your first question is What are the numbers for??, just like almost everyone I’ve showed so far. Nothing, they are for nothing… we just like that look. Carly and Me. I like the sound of that – Carly and Me, sounds a book or maybe a movie. Maybe like Marley and Me. But Carly is as far from Marley as possible.  She’s HYSTERICAL… she gets my sense of humor completely so maybe that’s why I think she’s so funny. Oh, and her kids are as cute as can be. ;) Thank you for being so much fun all along the way, Carly. You made this a fun, creative piece for me.

Have I ever told you all how much I love navy and orange together? Well, I do! I noticed these on etsy by kari machal designs and I think you need to buy them for the living room, Carly.
